Their have been so many fun activities this week, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. To end the week of right, Marco Ren and Lilly Roberson led a vegan breakfast cooking class with plenty of tasty food. Ren and Roberson cooked and served Tofu Scramble and Tempeh Bacon along with some delicious chocolate chip and blueberry pancakes. We are halfway through Active Aging Week and the most anticipated part of the week has come, Spa Day! So far we have taught about physical healthy through exercise and diet, but now it's time to help the mind with some relaxation. The soothing day involved hot foot baths with essential oils, massages, facials, makeup artists, hand waxes, drinks, and more. It's the second day of Active Aging Week and to celebrate we had Kim Smith come talk about healthy diets and shakes and how to implement them into your life. She partnered with Herbalife Nutrition and gave out free samples of some tasty, yet healthy, shakes. Active Aging Week has officially started and to kick the fun week off, we started with Tuesday Tango. Heritage Hall dance teacher Chelsea Jones was kind enough to teach the class. Residents, grandparents, and grandkids learned how to tango and waltz together as well how exercise can be fun with activities like dancing. Following up on the Alzheimer's Ho Down, AGP is partnering with The Fountains at Canterburry for Active Aging Week this year and we have plenty of fun events to promote healthy and active aging. Among the events are Tuesday Tango, Healthy Diets and Shakes, Spa Day, and Vegan Breakfast Cooking Class. AGP is super excited to host Active Aging Week for the first time and can't wait to see everyone there.
The new school year has officially started and to kick off the year AGP threw their Back-To School Bash. The party brought the program together after 3 hot months of summer and grandkids who were away were able to finally see their grandparents after the long break. Everyone enjoyed drinks and food as well as the official launch of AGP's new merch. It's another new school year and AGP has a ton of exciting new plans to come. To start the year with a blast AGP is having their annual Back-To-School Bake Sale accompanied with their Back-To School Bash. Grandparents came together with heir grandkids to bake some delicious treats to help raise funds for AGP. As usual the bake sale was successful and everyone is excited for the Back-To School Bash tomorrow.
This year The Fountains at Canterburry put together the Alzheimer's Ho Down, a mini fair all to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimers and the Alzheimer's Association. Residents and locals would pay for an admission ticket to get in where they would be greeted by various booths with mouthwatering food, educational programs, healthy aging information, and more.
